FORT WAYNE BRANCH, AMERICAN ASSOCIATION
OF UNIVERSITY WOMEN TRUST
The Fort Wayne Branch AAUW Trust was established in 1979 when the Branch received a bequest from the estate of R. Hazel Miller. An additional bequest in 1989 from the estate of Letha Falls was added to the capital account. In 1998, a generous donation was given to the Trust in memory of Anne K. Waterfield. Additional gifts and memorials are shown in the Treasurer’s Annual Report on a subsequent page.
The AAUW Trust purposes include:
1. Encouraging education among members of the AAUW and the community.
2. Funding appropriate studies and projects in keeping with the objectives of AAUW.
3. Promoting standards of excellence in public school education and in higher education.
4. Cooperating with other persons, organizations, trusts, or foundations whose purposes and activities are similar to those of the Trust.
Grants ranging from less than $500.00 to more than $3000.00 are distributed once a year. Groups receiving grants can reapply every three years. The grant application is January 1 through February 28. Grant applications may be accessed here at the website or by mail from our P.O. Box 10993, Fort Wayne, IN 46855. Qualifications for a grant are available when you request a grant form on this website. We will accept applications electronically as well as through our PO Box. The Trust Board will meet in March to review the requests and grant monies will be distributed in April at a public meeting place. Public acknowledgement of the receipt of a grant, as well as an accounting of the use of the funds is expected before the Trust Board. .

| QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPLICATION FOR A GRANT |

01. Funds granted by the Fort Wayne Branch, AAUW Trust are limited to Nonprofit Organizations Public Service Projects. |

| 02. Funds are NOT granted for salaries or royalties. |
| |
| 03. Applications for projects with profit potential to the applicant and/or the Branch or Trust shall be considered on an individual basis, only after consideration with the Trust’s legal counsel. |

| 04. The Fort Wayne Branch, AAUW Trust shall make grants to organizations and individuals outside of AAUW only once every three (3) years. |
| |
| 05. Notification will be sent to each applicant to acknowledge receipt of the completed application. |

| 06. Completed application forms for funds from the Fort Wayne Branch, AAUW Trust are to be received between January 1 and February 28 for an April award. Following review by the Trustees, each applicant will be notified in writing regarding the decision of the Trustees. Applicants whose projects have been approved for funding will receive a Grant Contract to be signed and returned in person at a public meeting in April when the checks are presented. |

| 07. Applications to the Fort Wayne Branch, AAUW Trust are not transferable from one grant period to another. Organizations and individuals must reapply. |

08. If grant money is placed in an account from which interest is received by the grant recipient, the interest shall be returned to the Fort Wayne Branch, AAUW Trust to be added to the interest pools from which future grants shall be given. |

| 09. The Fort Wayne Branch AAUW Trust expects grant recipients to publicly acknowledge financial support/grants in official publications (newsletters, bulletins, brochures, etc.) using the official name Fort Wayne Branch American Association of University Women Trust. |

10. If a grant is awarded, the grantee is required to submit a written report by April 1 of the year following acceptance of that grant with receipts for expenditures attached. To meet legal requirements governing the Fort Wayne Branch, AAUW Trust, grantees must also present a short, oral report in the public meeting. This meeting will be scheduled during April. |
